Description

More info

The Stade Jean-Luc Crétier is La Plagne’s official competition piste and starts high above Plagne Centre at the top of the Becoin chair. Unlike stade pistes in many other resorts, this is very much a straight-line affair with very little in the way of deviation or particularly testing terrain other than a couple steeps followed by rollers. There is an official timing hut at the base and the run is floodlit (though bizarrely never seems open to the public at night). This piste is often closed for local race training but, if it’s open, it’s worth doing – if only for the fact it’s great for laying out wide-open, arcing carved turns. There are two slightly steep pitches near the top before the gradient lessens as the piste drops into Plagne Centre. Hit the rollers at speed and you’ll glide a very long way :).
